Zoroastrians worship a supreme deity named Ahura Mazda. Fire represents Ahura Mazda; whom Zoroastrians believe he created. A sacred flame housed in the Zoroastrian temple in Yazd is thought to have been burning since 470 B.C. Temple priests tend it, and glass protects it from the public.
